I have decided to rebrand myself because I’ve discovered I really like to write for children. I have published five picture books for ages 3-8: Meena Mouse’s Perfect Raspberry, Happy Holidays, Meena Mouse, Meena Mouse’s Perfectly Awful Day, Hubert Little’s Great Adventure, and Hubert Little’s Great Wish. Beeya Goes to the Zoo will come out soon. Beeya is excited about a trip to the zoo with his girl Charlie, but is left on a bench, forgotten when Charlie goes home.
Beeya came about when my granddaughter was an infant. A friend gave her a little zebra stuffie. When she was old enough to talk she named it Beeya as she couldn’t say Zebra. She is about to be a senior in high school and still has a larger replica of Beeya, but she chooses to spell it differently. She gave me permission to use Beeya’s name. He was forgotten in an airport when she was ten and although her mom made several phone calls, he was so grubby he most likely ended his days in the trash.
I have concepts for three more Beeya stories and endless ideas for Meena Mouse adventures. An author friend keeps suggesting Meena stories. I might go with a birthday story that focuses on the theme of friendship. And I’m working slowly on a Meena Mouse activity book.
