About

Trilby Plants Author

When I was five years old we lived in Tripoli, Libya. My father was an Air Force pilot. Before television, my mother read to my brother and me. The story I remember most is Gulliver’s Travels. My brother, a year younger than I, talked for a long time about how Gulliver put out the fire in the Lilliputian town by urinating on it. What fascinated me was the idea there could be other worlds, either within our own, or alongside it. That started my love of storytelling. I think the best story I told when I was little was, “My brother did it.”

When I was nine, I lived in Ismay, a tiny town in eastern Montana. I wrote and illustrated a story and my teacher talked me into submitting to the Montana State Fair. I won a blue ribbon!

The first book I published was one I began long ago at Flint Area Writers – which was founded in 1947 as Flint Writers Club. Fire SongTo Hear the Lee-Ath Sing Book 1. is published on Amazon – Book 2, To Hear the Lee-Ath Sing, is ready to publish.

As most authors do, I have a trunk book – a book that will never see the light of day. It sits in a box on a closet shelf gathering dust. It’s written mostly in longhand and is useless, but some of the ideas in it haunt me, and I can’t bear to part with it. It deals with time travel and paradoxes and a young woman who can’t anchor herself in time. I keep it because I made a really cool map to go with it.

I recently decided to rebrand myself because I’ve discovered I really like to write for children. I have published five picture books for ages 3-8: Meena Mouse’s Perfect Raspberry, Happy Holidays, Meena Mouse, Meena Mouse’s Perfectly Awful Day, Hubert Little’s Great Adventure, and Hubert Little’s Great Wish. Beeya Goes to the Zoo will come out soon.

I also write dark fantasy, and I published a romantic suspense with a co-writer. All my books are available on Amazon and all are on Kindle Unlimited.
